Capita has announced it will partner with Ajenta to launch Vscene, a video collaboration service as a strategic addition to the SWAN service portfolio.

This could prove a a valuable tool for the Scottish public sector, enabling it to embed video collaboration into the digital transformation journey and enhance an ever-growing network – servicing some 6,000 sites and 52 member organisations.

From the Ground Up

Vscene takes its roots from the JANET video service (JVCS) and has been rebuilt from the ground up by the Edinburgh-based company. The development team has worked to develop a video platform that allows participants to connect from a broad range of devices, including room-based video, web browsers and Microsoft’s Skype for Business.

This will be further enhanced by features such as shared whiteboards, presence streaming, archiving and a roadmap of new features that will be developed and added over the course the next several years.

Already established in the further and higher education sectors, Vscene plays a pivotal role in over 10,000 organisations with 250,000 users taking part in over 200,000 hours of video sessions each month.

Growth and Innovation

Ajenta CEO, John Wilson, believes that the partnership with SWAN can provide a unique opportunity for Scotland’s public sector to access services across secure networks, fuelling innovation in health and education in the process.

All of this enables users to utilise an enhanced and highly-beneficial video experience.
