In celebration of International Women’s Day, Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT) will host a live stream of a tech diversity event.

SWiT is a non-profit, which exists to celebrate, champion and invest in trail-blazers across the technology industry.

The 2019 everywoman in Tech Forum ‘The Power of Diversity’ aims to empower women working in technology and to raise awareness of diversity issues across the tech sector.

The live-streaming event will be hosted at the Everyman Cinema in Glasgow on the 6th of March. On the day, the venue will be rebranded as ‘everywoman Cinema’ in honour of the event.

The forum will also be streamed globally to audiences Ireland, Poland and India, as well as to regions across the UK.

Elain McKechnie, vice-chair of SWiT, commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to partner with everywoman forum and Everyman Cinema to bring this exciting event to a Scottish audience in honour of International Women’s Day.”

The global theme for International Women’s Day, #BalanceforBetter, acknowledges that gender balance is not a women’s issue, it is a business issue.

IWD-related events aim to show that gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive.

Agenda topics for the SWiT programme range from blockchain and data science to leadership and inclusive innovation.

Panel sessions will discuss the future of the workplace and how initiatives can empower young, talented people to be future industry leaders. A series of ‘power hours’ will also be featured.
