Late last year, the UK tech industry reached a market value of $1 trillion, becoming only the third country to do so after the United States and China. This makes the UK the third largest tech hub globally, and the largest in Europe. 

In light of this surge, a study run by The Knowledge Academy looked at 10,800 tech job listings to find the most in demand jobs and skills in the current UK job market. 

1. Taking the top spot are Project Managers, with the most active job listings across the UK. The average salary of a project manager is £47, 295. This position oversees department objectives and strategies for IT projects, including hardware and software development.
2. Second place are .Net Developers, which boasts a higher average salary than project managers at £53,169. These professionals develop applications, including for the web, mobile, AI and cloud. 
3. The third most in demand job is C# Developers, which specialise in the C++ coding language. They average a salary of £61,435, and do much of the same work as .Net Developers, but don’t require as broad of a knowledge base for the framework and ecosystem. 
4. Fourth place are Software Engineers, who are highly sought after in 2023 and have an average salary of £50,557. They develop high-quality software solutions, manage databases, and enhance security and reliability in the system. 
5. Fifth place are Infrastructure Engineers, which maintain organisations’ IT services. The average salary is $44,777 and they must possess extensive knowledge of tech resources, hardware, software, and networks. 
6. In sixth place are IT Support Engineers, which have a salary of £32,680. They are essential in provident technical assistance and troubleshooting to users. 
7. After that at seventh are Senior .Net Software Engineers, who have the highest average salary of the group at £66,776. They play a key role in the development and creation of various applications. 
8. Following at eighth place are IT Managers, who oversee IT operations of an organisation and have an average salary of £45,877. 
9. Ninth place are IT Security Trainees, which have an average annual salary of £29,500. This role is popular among those looking to enter the fruitful IT security sector. 
10. In tenth place are IT Support technicians, who provide technical support to users and organisations and make an average salary of £26,559.
