“Our latest investment figures show the resilience, strength, and global competitiveness of our phenomenal UK FinTech ecosystem,” Janine Hurt, CEO at Innovate Finance, said.

The UK has managed to reclaim its number two spot in the global fintech market, seeing investment in the UK fintech market up by 11% in the second half of 2025, according to data from Innovate Finance UK.

Globally, fintech investment increased 21% in 2025 to $53bn, with the US claiming the top spot with $25.1bn in investment across 2,449 deals.

The UK’s $3.6bn in investment put it in second place, with India following close behind with $3.4bn. The UK saw its funding allocated across 534 deals, while India amassed its funding through just 253 deals, reflecting a wider funding ecosystem in the UK.

The UAE made big splashes in the fintech funding ecosystem with its £2bn Binance funding round, accounting for the vast majority of the UAE’s $2.5bn.

Despite following far behind the US, the UK’s number two position places it far ahead its closest European competitors, with France ($1.08bn) and Germany ($997m) rounding out the ninth and tenth spots.

In Europe, the UK managed to raise more capital than the next five countries combined, with the continent showing a more concentrated fintech market overall.

Despite reclaiming its number two position, the UK had a relatively flat year-on-year performance, with just a 0.4% increase on 2024 overall. The second half of the year saw an 11% year-on-year increase in investment, however, driven by the large deal in FNX ($650m).

While it saw a lacklustre improvement in the first half of the year, the second half of 2025 may show signs of an upturn for the UK market.

When it comes to female founders in the UK, investment raised by own by 37% compared to last year. While overall investment has fallen, investment in female-founded businesses appears to be falling faster, meaning intervention is necessary to address this gap.

“Our latest investment figures show the resilience, strength, and global competitiveness of our phenomenal UK FinTech ecosystem,” Janine Hurt, CEO at Innovate Finance, said.

“Attracting a strong $3.6 billion in investment in 2025 – and again claiming second place globally behind only the United States – the UK has once again proven its credentials as a world-leading financial innovation and technology hub.

“Other countries are quickly gaining pace however, and so to maintain our global lead it is imperative that we push ahead on delivering key regulatory reforms with speed, increase access to growth capital, and continue to foster an environment which is attractive for both domestic and international entrepreneurs and investors.

“Our thriving UK FinTech sector is driving growth and productivity across the country, supporting consumers with the cost of living, facilitating greater financial inclusion, and creating thousands of jobs each year.

“We at Innovate Finance look forward to continuing to work with industry, regulators, and government to cement the UK as the best place in the world to start, build and scale a FinTech business.”
