The UK has agreed a landmark deal with Ukraine to join the two countries military and technology forces to advance AI capabilities.
The new deal will establish UK access to Ukraine’s Avengers AI Labs database, bringing together the UK’s AI ecosystem with Ukraine’s talent and experience in engineering and operations.
The database houses data direct from thousands of cameras and infrared sensors across the battlefield in Ukraine. The real-time data is used to train new AI models to improve defense and security posturing.
The Avengers Lab mostly consists of data from the Ukrainian military’s DELTA combat system, a battlefield management and situational awareness model developed in Ukraine.
The deal will bring together military experts, academics, engineers, and businesses from both countries to collaborate on using AI to improve defence and national security.
The two countries will collaborate on projects utilising AI and other technologies to protect military facilities, as well as research the potential for low-energy chips that can be used for drones and autonomous systems.
