With the growing risk of cyber-attacks globally, Xeretec said DaaS will enable companies to protect themselves from security threats by utilising “the most advanced technology and systems” available at present.  

Xeretec chose to launch this latest product at the DIGIT Expo to showcase the company’s innovation at Scotland’s largest IT and digital technology event.

Cost Effective Security 

DaaS, the company explained, is a simple, cost-effective way to procure and deploy technology that is catered to a business’ needs. It allows businesses to upgrade IT, including hardware, accessories, installation, services and support, without the forward capital outlay.  

Businesses can select a package based on their individual requirements, which may vary depending on the size of the firm or the sector in which it operates.  

In a statement, Xeretec said: “This enables businesses to implement the most up-to-date technology for a simple per-device cost.” 

Xeretec is a leading independent integrator of digital print hardware, software solutions and services. With 16 facilities throughout the UK, the company employs more than 85 staff across four offices, located in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness and Dundee. 

Growing Cyber Threats 

Xeretec is launching DaaS due to growing global security threats. An estimated 50% of businesses have been affected by a data breach or cyber attack, according to the Ipsos MORI Social Research Institute. Cyber attacks can have devastating consequences for businesses, with a typical attack costing in the region of £60,000.  

Connelly explained the inspiration behind DaaS, stating: “With an estimated 83 million passwords being stolen daily, every business owner has the fear of being hacked, and as Microsoft ends free support for Windows 7 from January 2020, it is imperative that businesses have the most up-to-date software to ensure greater levels of security.  

“By introducing this new service, we are providing a solution to our clients which is cost-effective and keeps technology and cybersecurity at the forefront of the business.”
