CodeClan has announced new funded programmes that will help more than 100 people to launch a career in tech with fully-funded places available for the digital skills academy’s upcoming  ‘Access to Tech’ course.

Applicants over 25 years old, who live in Scotland and have not graduated in the last 12 months, could be eligible for the Digital Skills Pipeline funding to cover their training.

Managed by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and provided by the Scottish Government, the Digital Skills Pipeline funding is part of the National Training and Transition Fund and supports those furthest from the job market to achieve their digital career ambitions through specialist training.

CodeClan’s ‘Access to Tech’ course takes place over one week and is an ideal starting point for beginners who are interested in tech roles.

In this course, students explore the tools, technology, and career opportunities in the world of software development and data analysis. By the end of the week, students will be better equipped to choose the pathway that fits their career aspirations.

Funded places for two additional courses, ‘Web Dev Essentials’ and ‘Data Analysis Essentials’, also available as part of the Digital Skills Pipeline funding, are almost fully booked and are already operating on a waiting list only basis.

Speaking about the new grant, Ceri Shaw, Chief Delivery Officer at CodeClan, said: “Since its foundation, CodeClan’s mission has been to encourage and support new technically-inspired individuals.

“With the additional support from Skills Development Scotland we can reach out to more individuals that are passionate about technology but for whom the cost of training might be out of reach. We are looking forward to offering this grant to eligible students across Scotland.”
