Black Tech Scotland
By providing a platform for underrepresented groups, Black Tech Scotland will seek to help shape Scotland’s ambition to be one of the world’s leading tech hubs.

On January 30th, Black and Scot will launch it’s new initiative, Black Tech Scotland in Aberdeen, seeking to foster a diverse and inclusive network of tech professionals, enthusiasts, start-ups, scale-ups, corporates, policymakers, and academics.

According to Black and Scot, this community will ‘drive the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences, ultimately contributing to Scotland’s growth and ambition as a leading tech hub in the global tech sector.

A Vision for Inclusion and Growth

Black Tech Scotland is built on the principles of inclusivity, collaboration, and progress.

The initiative will seek to:

  • Create a vibrant tech hub that addresses challenges in the sector.
  • Give a voice to the Black, BAME, and Global Mobility communities in tech.
  • Complement existing efforts to tackle barriers to diversity in Scotland’s tech ecosystem.
  • Support growth, development, and talent opportunities through a robust and connected network.

By providing a platform for underrepresented groups, Black Tech Scotland will help shape Scotland’s ambition to be one of the world’s leading tech hubs.

A First for The North of Scotland

Black Tech Scotland stands out as the first initiative of its kind in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire, a region that has historically seen fewer diversity-driven tech movements, according to the organisation.

While similar efforts are often concentrated in Scotland’s central belt, this initiative will seek to complement, and amplify the voices and contributions of a diverse tech community in the North and across Scotland.
