Personal data has been accessed in the breach, although commercial operations are said to be unaffected.

Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has been the victim of what it describes as a “cyber incident”.

In a statement acknowledging the hack, the company confirmed it had identified unauthorised access to data within its commercial aircraft business.

The company said: “This incident is being thoroughly investigated by Airbus’ experts who have taken immediate and appropriate actions to reinforce existing security measures and to mitigate its potential impact, as well as determining its origins.

Investigations are ongoing as the company works to understand if any specific data was targeted, however, it is known that some personal data was accessed.
