The outage appears to be global as hundreds of thousands report technical issues on the social media sites.

Facebook, Instagram, and Threads are all experiencing technical issues due to a major Meta outage affecting the company’s social media platforms.

At around 3.10pm GMT, over a thousand reported Facebook outages on Downdetector, soon rising to 134,880 by 3:24pm users reporting outages.

Facebook, Instagram, and Threads all appear to be affected by the issue.

The platforms either appear to not refresh or function, and many Facebook users reported being logged out of their account.

Users have been told that their passwords are incorrect, but this is likely due to the outage. Password resetting services also appear to be out.

Facebook Messenger also is affected by the outage, but WhatsApp, which is also owned by Meta, appears to be functioning normally.

The outage appears to be global, as issues were reported across the world.

Meta Quest headsets, which operate on Meta’s Metaverse, have also been signed out of accounts, essentially shutting down access to the Metaverse.

Head of communications at Meta, Andy Stone, posted an update on X stating that the company was aware of the issues.
