CodeBase and AccelerateHer are partnering to host a hackathon event tailored to female and non-binary tech founders, focused on development and commercialisation of business ideas. 

Elizabeth Pirrie, CEO of AccelerateHER, said: “This hackathon event will support female and non-binary founders with advice around a technical challenge they need to overcome to develop their business or business idea.”

The hackathon event will take place on March 2 at CodeBase’s Edinburgh campus. 

AccelerateHer is focused on growing female-founded business, and the partnership with CodeBase, will see both firms lending support to female and non-binary lead businesses by advising on key technology challenges. 

Tech experts, including Danae Shell, CEO of legaltech startup Valle, and Julie Grieve, former CEO of traveltech business, Criton, will be be matched with participants to dispell wisdom and demystify the tech opportunities available to startups in Scotland. 

Audrey Opdycke-Barnes, VP of Place at CodeBase, said: “With an exciting crew of accomplished female business leaders facilitating the space, this will be an equitable and supportive event aimed at helping founders who are technical or non-technical, at the very beginning of their journey, or well on their way.

“From guiding initial planning for development of bespoke software, kicking off creation of a low-code or no-code MVP, to understanding what white-label out-of-the-box solutions may be available, our techies will help participants figure it out.”

The event will allow founders to network and connect with their peers all while exploring their real time challenges as they enter the tech ecosystem. 

“We invite those who are looking to demystify the MVP landscape, build on their technical knowledge and further develop their network to apply to join this unique event,” Pierre continued.

Joining the techscaler programme will open founders up to mentorship, education programmes, workplaces, community forums and events, and will be offered to eligible founders participating in the hackathon. 

Applications for the event are open now, and the deadline is 27 January.
