The partnership hopes to encourage further innovation in the health and social care sector.

InnoScot Health joined the Scottish Parliament’s vital Cross-Party Group on Life Sciences last week.

Established in 2002, InnoScot Health focuses on encouraging innovation from NHS staff which the company then evaluates and commercialises to bring new ideas to the forefront of healthcare.

Health technology is one of the main pillars of Scotland’s life science sector, along with pharmaceutical innovation, and animals, agritech and aquaculture.

When the group was re-formed last year, Minister for Trade, Innovation and Public Finance Ivan McKee explained the importance of life sciences for both Scotland’s economy and wider population health.

The Cross-Party group hopes to focus on all of the main pillars, and after the Covid-19 pandemic, the group is keen to strengthen collaboration across the health sector.

The group, convened by MSP Kenneth Gibson, acts as “channel for communication” between the Scottish Parliament and industry leaders and organisations working in the life science sector in Scotland.

Last Tuesday, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care Humza Yousaf attended and spoke positively about Scottish Government support for life sciences with InnoScot Health among organisations thanked for their backing of the group.
