The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) has bolstered its senior management team with a a new chief strategy and commercial officer (CSCO) and chief technology officer (CTO).

Siobhan Campbell and Coreen McCubbin join as CSCO and CTO, respectively, bringing a combined 50-plus years of manufacturing, engineering and scientific industry experience to the organisation.

Campbell joins from the UK arm of global engineering consultancy WSP and has previously held senior scientific roles at the UK and the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Department of Transport where she was the deputy Chief Scientific Advisor.

“I’m excited to join NMIS and support the drive towards next generation manufacturing excellence,” Campbell said.

“Close connections between the industry and research experts are central to this, and my focus will be on developing strong partnerships to ensure sustained growth and deliver impact. I look forward to working with the team and our stakeholders to achieve these goals.”

In her new role, Campbell will lead the commercial activities across the NMIS group, engaging extensively with our industrial partners and members to help accelerate productivity across manufacturing to grow the economy.

McCubbin has previously held senior leadership roles at Spirit AeroSystems and BAE systems and was most recently consulting globally at Leading Edge Strategy Consulting. She has worked on a range of high-profile technology development and implementation projects for the aerospace sector.

As CTO, McCubbin will direct the development and delivery of NMIS’s strategic research programmes, ensuring its centres are at the forefront of manufacturing innovation nationally and internationally. NMIS is operated by the University of Strathclyde and is part of the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult.
