Scotland’s animation and VFX gathering, MOVE, brings together international creatives, industry leaders, students, and educators to Edinburgh on the 21 and 23 February 2024 to celebrate the joy of making things move.
Based on the Pleasance Courtyard in Edinburgh, MOVE covers three days featuring a range of events, including talks, workshops, creative reviews, screenings, an exhibition and recruitment fair, tech demos, networking and business development, all with a focus on the latest and greatest in animation and VFX industries.
MOVE brings together, according to the organiser, ‘animation creatives in celebration of their artistry and technical accomplishments, providing an opportunity to hear from world-class studios, discover how the latest projects were made, get insights into how creative challenges were overcome, learn new tricks and tips, and see some unique works-in-progress.’
Beginning in 2017, MOVE Summit was co-founded by animator and Oscar winner Tom Bryant, the director of Interference Pattern.
Since its first year, MOVE Summit has expanded its offering and attracts around 1,000 delegates over its three day event.

The Summit is developing a line up of speakers including Jane Wu (Blue Eye Samurai), James Williams (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Illumination), Emilie Bach (Julián, Cartoon Saloon), Troy Quane (Nimona, Netflix), Torsten Schrank (Klaus), and Nathan Jurevicius (Scarygirl), with more to be announced.
Building on previous years, the Move Summit 2024 will also be hosting a Business @ Move strand, a dedicated business programme bringing together independent studios and producers with commissioners, broadcasters, agencies, and industry bodies to explore mutually beneficial opportunities and new practices of getting work made.
The first day of the event will be aimed at students, with the latter two days dedicated to animation industry professionals across 2D and 2D animation, VR/AR, VFX, motion graphics, design, and games.
MOVE Summit 2024 is made possible with the support of funders and partners including Screen Scotland, Interference Patter, ScreenSkills Animation, Eyebolls, and HeeHaw.
Tickets for the event are now available and can be found here.
