Snugg, the home energy efficiency firm, has secured nearly £2 million in funding from the UK government to help develop their Green Home Hub.
The significant funding boost is part of the UK Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s Green Home Finance Accelerator initiative, funded through the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio.
The Green Home Hub (GHH), in partnership with leading finance providers Perenna and Scroll Finance, follows the earlier success of a £170,000 government grant awarded to Snugg to develop a prototype of the hub during Phase 1 of the programme.
The GHH is a digital consumer platform which enables financial institutions and energy providers to help their customers make their homes more energy efficient.
It aims to simplify decision making by addressing issues that deter homeowners from acting, like complexity, high costs, long paypacks, confusing grants, the lack of green finance solutions, and the shortage of reliable installers.
Using a wide range of data sources, GHH can provide a personalised user experience and effectively assess which improvements are most suitable for a customer’s home.
The hub will provide cost and savings analysis, as well as pointing homeowners to relevant financial support, to maximise overall savings while staying green.
Like Snugg’s existing green home solution, the GHH will allow homeowners to track the costs and progress of their installation, as well as monitoring their energy and carbon emissions in real time.
The GHH will integrate with various data sources and industry partners to ensure that home assessments and installation recommendations are both accurate and accessible.
To bolster this, Perenna Bank will be integrating its long-term rate mortgage products into the GHH, simplifying the user journey and where appropriate improving the terms of some loans to incentivise customers to make green upgrades.
Scroll Finance will be developing and integrating the Green Shared Equity Mortgage into the GHH, again simplifying the user journey and where appropriate improving the terms of the loan and verifications.
The partnerships will provide homeowners with sufficient choice to finance their improvements and reward them for making energy-efficient installations.

Since its launch in early 2022, Snugg has been instrumental in guiding thousands of people towards more energy efficient homes.
The introduction of the GHH is set to extend this service to a broader audience, facilitating a seamless and informed journey towards making homes more energy efficient.
The development of the GHH underpins Snugg’s commitment to supporting the UK’s net zero targets. With recent shifts in government policy, the role of such innovation has become increasingly vital.
“Receiving the UK Government’s backing to build the Green Home Hub is a win for everyone,” Robin Peters, CEO at Snugg said.
“Millions of homeowners will be able to improve their home’s energy efficiency more easily and affordably than before. Banks and energy providers will have better opportunity to progress their journey towards Net Zero.
“And we’ll all benefit from lower energy demand and improved air quality as more homes are retrofitted to higher energy efficiency standards.”
