Thousands of HSBC customers have reported issues and outages with the bank’s online and mobile app platforms.
Outage reports on DownDetector for HSBC peaked at 11:45 on 27 August, with 4,765 people reporting issues to the outage detection site.
Customers are still able to access their accounts via phones or in-person, according to the Bank’s service status page, and card payments are currently not affected in the outage.
Users attempting to access their accounts online were shown “err03” codes, with others seeing messages suggesting they try later.
HSBC-operated First Direct has also been affected in the incident.
The bank apologised to affected customers on social media platform X: “We’re really sorry and are investigating as a matter of urgency.”
The problems seem to be affecting those all across the UK, according to DownDetector’s data.

Users being affected can call the bank’s customer support helpline with any urgent requests, the bank suggested.
There is currently no update to when the issue will be resolved.
The outage comes after months of consistent incidents affecting the technical systems of some of the UK’s major banks. Back in May, thousands of mobile banking apps were affected by an outage hitting Lloyds Banking Group and TSB.
Earlier in the summer, an outage hit some of the UK’s major telecoms providers as well.
